BREAK THE ATTENDANCE RECORD!!!
Welcome back everyone! We hope that you all had a fantastic break and are ready for the upcoming semester. We know that we are! We have huge things planned for the upcoming semester and we’d like to announce that we will be starting that next week! The February 3rd men’s basketball game will be broadcasted on ESPN3, and after seeing last year’s turnout to the ESPN3 game, we’re going to have some fun with this one: We’re going to attempt to break the Events Center record for the most students at one Binghamton University basketball game! We know that we’ll be able to do this with the help of all of our fellow Bearcats. You can sign up for the event on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1569777376600518/?ref=22
The game begins at 7pm on Tuesday, February 3rd, at the Events Center. The game (and all games) are free for students. Just show your student ID at the door and you’re in! We’ll be giving out BU Zoo shirts to those with coupons (which can be obtained via our social media contests over the next week: here, here, and here) and even more tshirts to those who bring the energy, so get there early! In addition, the first 700 students will receive a free Yowie!! (http://www.jimalax.com/productimages/accessories/Yowie_FB.jpg) Let’s pack the stands and bring the noise as we attempt to make history! Go Bearcats!!

The BU Zoo In November
We’ve had an amazing month thus far, and we’re not slowing down! The month started off with our appearance on Pardon The Interruption. We’d like to thank famed Binghamton University alumni Tony Kornheiser for his support! We made an appearance on Pizza With Vaughan on BTV, in a special basketball episode that should air soon. We then watched as soccer season ended on a high note, as both the men’s and women’s teams made it into the playoffs. Rob Moewes ended the season as the America East Goalkeeper of the Year. We couldn’t be prouder and congratulate Rob on his award. The Cross Country team won the America East Championship. We send our congratulations to them as well. And finally, basketball season is now upon us! The women’s team opened up their season in the Akron tournament, and came away with a win against Delaware State, giving Coach Linda Cimino her first win as Bearcats head coach. The freshman have been phenomenal. Jasmine Sina is averaging 13.5 points per game and hit six three pointers in the preseason matchup with Mansfield. Imani Watkins was named the America East Rookie of the week in her first week of her collegiate career. They’ll travel to Canisius for Wednesday’s contest and will have their home opener on Saturday when they play host to Xavier at 7pm.
After two preseason wins, the men’s team opened up their season on the road in Notre Dame and Providence, with each coming on national television. The BU Zoo viewing party was a success! Students packed the marketplace as we watched the Notre Dame game. The team will travel back to Vestal for Wednesday night’s home opener against Hartwick at 7pm. You can RSVP for the event here!
We at the BU Zoo couldn’t be more excited for the rest of the Fall 2014 semester. We also have a major announcement with BU Campus Food:
We’ll see you all at the home openers this week! Let’s take a look back at the Zoo in November:
Green Day Friday Recap 10-24-14 and 10-31-14
Hey Zoo,
First off, you are all invited to a special taping of Pizza with Vaughan on Wednesday at 7 pm in the Events Center! Please wear your BU Zoo shirts! More details here
We had a great couple of weeks. Our women’s soccer team battled their way into the playoffs, and although they took a loss, they made us proud to be Bearcats after fighting to force penalty kicks. The men’s soccer team, meanwhile, clinched a playoff spot in the America East Tournament. We’ll keep you updated as their playoff game gets closer. The men’s basketball team won their preseason game, and are just two weeks away from their home opener. Women’s basketball opens their preseason on Friday at 7 pm at the Events Center. Finally, a big congratulations to the men’s cross country team for winning the America East Championship!
